Babies are on the way!

Hello everyone!

Happy New Year to all of you! We hope that you are having a nice February so far!

We are excitedly awaiting babies from our two senior Nubian girls! The first babies (from Victoria and Toby) are due around the 3rd of March, so only around 3 more weeks (or less!) to go! Since they had a single buckling in 2015, followed by quadruplet girls in 2016, we are not sure what to expect this year! :)

– The girls have been loving the fresh, tender, Spring grass lately!

We hope that before too long we can introduce to you the middle little girl in the above picture! ;) In the foreground is our Foxwood Miss Victoria. She is such a beautiful girl and we are quite fond of her! And in the background is our Herders Thelma Lou. She is in a very motherly-looking way right now…she is so very large! :) It will be so exciting to see what she has also! Might could be some spots – what do you think? ;)

I hope that all of you are having a very, very lovely day today, blessed in the Lord! To all of you who also have Nubians and are about to enter kidding season, I hope that it goes very well for you! Happy New Year!

Baby Update

Here at Herders Ranch the sun is shining, and even though it might be nippy, the sunshine adds some joy to the heart! The babies and their mommy have been out soaking it up today, after some cold, cold days in the barn. Look how big they’re getting!

We’re thankful that they’ve been doing so well, and they are already starting to nibble!

Little Guy1

They seem to love the sunshine and have enjoyed getting some exercise…

But then, stretch…

Little Boy1

…they need sleepy-time too! Oh, excuse me. You haven’t met them yet? Please allow me. Oldest to youngest…

Little Guy

This little fellow is a sweetie! While I’m not sure of his calling name yet, I’ve currently dubbed him Little Guy. He has an adorable face, a cutey personality, and a beautiful, flashy appearance! I think he would make someone a very handsome herdsire!

Next you have little Miss Valerie! She’s is a little beauty with a lovely, adorable personality! She is quite spunky and a hardy little individual, with a precious little face! She has a great little conformation and beautiful coloring! Don’t you think she’d be a wonderful addition to someone’s herd? I do!

Little Boy

And last, but definately not least, you have another little boy! And yes, I’ve currently named him Little Boy. :) He is quite handsome, with a very friendly personality. What a beautiful herdsire he would make, and he’s already got some great size!

There, that’s better! Now you’ve had a proper introduction! They are such fun little babies! I’ll leave you with one more picture…

May you have a blessed day. Enjoy the sunshine!

Winter Wonderland

We’ve been having wintery weather here in North Alabama! The trees have been iced, which makes for a beautiful sight, especially when they sparkle in the sun!

Did you notice that we have babies for sale? Thelma Lou kidded on Valentine’s Day with triplets – two boys and a girl! They’re on our for sale page, so hurry and check them out, and let me know if you’d like to reserve a 2015 Herders Ranch bottle baby to add to your herd!

And, I’ll leave you with a precious picture. Check out this little guy, on the day he was born! This is just one of the precious little faces we have here at Herders Ranch.

Have a great day and stay warm!

I wanted to type a quick post and let y’all know that Thelma Lou is getting pretty close! Her due date is next Monday (the 16th), so be on the look out for adorable and beautiful babies then! :)

Above was Telm a week ago today. She’s big! If you are interested in a 2015 Herders Ranch Nubian Bottle Baby, feel free to email me and ask to be put on our notification list!

Hope you’re enjoying this February!

An Update On A Sunny January Day

Hello everyone!

It’s been a little while since I updated, so I thought it was about time. And I have a picture to share, so that makes it a good time to write, right?! ;)

We got snow this morning, but it’s almost all gone now and the weather’s beautiful(praise God for the beauty around us!)! So the girls (Victoria and Thelma Lou) are out in the pasture, enjoying some grass and sunshine: :)

The Girls

Telmy is getting so big – only about 23 more days to go! See our breedings page for more details and don’t forget to contact us, if you’re wanting to get a 2015 Herders Ranch purebred Nubian kid. We’re planning on offering our babies as bottle babies this year, so hurry and get in line, if you want one! :)

Also, don’t forget that we still have two 2014 kids for sale!! These “babies” are such sweeties and would make a great addition to someone’s farm. See the for sale page for details!

Also, I would like to offer today a great deal on some miniature horses. Our neighbor is needing to sell his mini horses, and is having a herd reduction. We’re asking $600 for the whole herd (stallions, mares, fillies! See their page on the website for more details.

I hope you have a lovely day, enjoying the sunshine and warm weather!

Happy December!

Hello there everyone!

December is here (wow, where has the time gone?) and I thought it was about time for an update from the folks at Herders Ranch. We’ve been staying busy here  – with the normal activities that usually reside, as well as other things that pop up every now and then.

I hope y’all had a lovely Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is such a wonderful reminder to give thanks to our heavenly Father and Creator. For He blesses us with so much every day (James 1:17)! We wouldn’t even be here without Him, for He has created us and given us our every breath and heartbeat. Therefore, praise be to His glorious name!

We have some new little additions here at the Ranch, which I hope to introduce properly soon. But for now, I’ll leave you with a picture, of our sweet little Cocker, Belle. She brings so much joy into our lives here, with her sweet smiling face and sunny disposition. :)

Hope you have a lovely evening. Thanks for reading the Herders Ranch blog!

September Update

Hello readers and fellow small farmers (and farmers at hearts :) ),

I thought I’d take a moment to give you a little update on some of what’s going on here at Herders Ranch.

We recently down sized our Nubian herd some (as you might can tell by our pages), and now only have one of our milkers left. She (Thelma Lou) should be kidding around the middle of February, so keep an eye out then for some (Lord willing) beautiful babies! Thelma Lou was bred to Toby.

Also, we have two rabbits that should be having bunnies in about a month! They should be weaned in December, so let us know if you’re interested in a sweet little pet, or a very fun gift for someone! See our “Mini Rex” and their “Breedings” page for more details.

As you might have noticed, we’ve updated our website, complete with a new header even!! Hope you enjoy the changes and additions! :)

Here at Herders Ranch we’ve also been very busy with leather and sewing projects. Below are some leather items that have been made here recently:

We are planning to have a booth at the Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddler’s Convention in Athens on October 3rd and 4th, with our Ike’s Outfitters leather goods, Lucas Forge knives, and handmade, sewn vests and other items. If you’re planning to attend Fiddler’s please stop by our booth and say hello! That’s this next coming Friday and Saturday, at the Athens State University campus in Athens.

I’d also like to encourage you to read this verse in the Bible, Luke 14:33. Please ponder its meaning. It’s a powerful verse!

Well, I guess I’ll leave y’all with that. Hope you’re enjoying this beautiful 2014 autumn so far! Thanks for reading the Herders Ranch blog.
